Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Some data show higher serum levels of Seroquel during pregnancy, while others suggest the drug may harm a developing baby. The safety and efficacy of Seroquel during pregnancy has not been established.
Seroquel can cause birth defects if taken during the first trimester of pregnancy. However, these risks are lower than some other drugs. It is not recommended to use Seroquel during pregnancy.
Seroquel is contraindicated for use in children below 18 years of age.Risk of QT prolongation:Seroquel can cause QTc prolongation in patients with uncorrected uncorrected QTc prolongation. This risk can be increased by concurrent use of several other drugs in the same drug class or with other risk factors.
The safety of Seroquel in children below 18 years of age has not been established.
Dosage:
Adults: The usual adult dose for treatment of schizophrenia is 25 mg orally once daily. It is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age.
Children: Children below 18 years of age should take a 50 mg-100 mg daily dose for at least 3 consecutive days, and a 50 mg-200 mg daily dose for at least 6 additional days, in divided doses. The maximum recommended dose is 100 mg daily. The dosing schedule should be as follows: Start at the beginning of the dose, gradually increase to the maximum recommended dose of 50 mg daily, and continue for additional days. Dosage should not be increased more than 50 mg daily.

Adults: The initial dose for treatment of schizophrenia in adults is 25 to 50 mg orally once daily, and the maintenance dose should be 50 to 100 mg daily.
Children: The adult dose for treatment of schizophrenia in children is 25 to 50 mg orally once daily, and the maintenance dose should be 50 to 100 mg daily. Quetiapine (Seroquel) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is commonly used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), postmenopausal women’s sexual function problems (PMDD), postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP), sleep apnea, and other related conditions. However, its use in managing mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, has been linked to increased risks of adverse events such as insomnia and insomnia syndrome.
The safety of Seroquel in premenopausal women was evaluated in a large population-based study of women 18–64 years old in Sweden. The study showed that patients who took Seroquel for the treatment of major depressive disorder had an increased risk of developing insomnia and sleep disturbances compared with those taking a placebo. Moreover, patients who took Seroquel had a reduced risk of insomnia compared with those on a placebo, with no increased risk of sleep disturbances or sleep apnea.
The increased risk of insomnia associated with Seroquel use is most commonly observed among patients who have comorbid major depression or anxiety disorders and who are also taking antidepressants for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, postmenopausal osteoporosis, PMOP, sleep apnea, insomnia associated with depression, PMDD, sleep apnea, PMOP, and other related conditions. These patients are often prescribed Seroquel for the treatment of major depression, anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, PMDD, sleep apnea, PMOP, and other related conditions. The risk of insomnia associated with Seroquel is increased in patients with a history of insomnia or with the use of benzodiazepines for sleep. Moreover, Seroquel is associated with a lower risk of developing suicide attempts and self-harm and a greater risk of developing depression and anxiety disorder.

However, the risk of insomnia associated with Seroquel use in premenopausal women is unknown. This is due to the fact that patients are often prescribed Seroquel for the treatment of anxiety disorders. Therefore, there is a need for safer and more effective sleep medications for premenopausal patients.
Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of Seroquel on patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP), sleep apnea, insomnia associated with depression, PMDD, sleep apnea, insomnia related to anxiety disorder, and insomnia associated with depression. The secondary objectives were to investigate Seroquel’s effect on the sleep architecture of patients with GAD and PMOP, sleep apnea, and sleep apnea associated with depression.
